Applications for Class of 2026 Scholarships are now open
Class of 2026, the New Heights Charter School of Brockton Scholarship Committee is now accepting applications for our annual scholarship program for students who demonstrate leadership skills, creativity, and community involvement.
We are committed to supporting students who have the drive and determination to achieve their goals, regardless of their financial circumstances.
The NHCSB Scholarship Committee encourages all members of the Class of 2026 to apply for any scholarships for which they are eligible.
The deadline for these scholarships, unless otherwise noted, is February 24, 2026.

The Phoenix Journey Scholarships reward graduating seniors who have demonstrated the drive to succeed during high school and have planned for the next steps on their journey.
ELIGIBILITY:

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

- Each Question should not exceed 200 words in length
The “Resiliency” Scholarship seeks to provide financial assistance to a graduating NHCSB Scholar who has overcome considerable hardship through resilience and determination. The scholarship recognizes an individual for their strength and perseverance.
Resilience refers to the ability to adapt successfully to stressors, thereby maintaining psychological well-being in the face of adversity. It’s the ability to “bounce back” from difficult experiences. A resilient person is aware of challenges, demonstrates problem-solving skills, manages their emotions, and understands how their decisions impact others.
CRITERIA:
- GPA Requirement: 3.0
ESSAY REQUIREMENT: What challenges have you faced in your personal life? How did you overcome or manage that challenge, and how have they shaped you?

In 2021, the New Heights Founders introduced a Hall of Heroes; our walls are lined with portraits of a collection of modern and historical role models. These individuals are renowned for their outstanding achievements and contributions towards the betterment of the human community. Among these portraits are those of a scholar from each previous graduating class who exemplifies the best qualities of a New Heights student; they have demonstrated persistence, a commitment to academic excellence, exemplary conduct, and a passion for knowledge.
This recognition is New Heights’ most prestigious award; recipients become a lasting legacy to future New Heights scholars, exemplifying all the best qualities needed for success at New Heights and beyond. The recipient is a leader, a mentor, and a role model for their peers. They motivate others; contribute to their school and community; and live life to the fullest.
CRITERIA:
- Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Word limit 650 or less
- Must exemplify NHCSB PACK skills and School Values:
- Presence: has the applicant demonstrated a consistent effort during their years at NHCSB to be the best they can be in all aspects of their personal growth, in their commitment to school values, and through service to the wider community?
- Academic achievement: has the applicant demonstrated attainment of literacy and numeracy skills? Has the student expressed value in the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school?
- Conduct: has the applicant demonstrated:
- Respect for staff, peers, and school property? Cooperation and courtesy when working in small groups or on service projects? Maintaining self-control in disagreements?
- Honesty by speaking truthfully and submitting original work?
- Responsibility for completing assignments and following through on commitments to sports, clubs, or community service?
- Patience and tolerance?
- Knowledge: Are the reflections shared based on the habits of inquiry and dialogue over the school experience? Does the applicant explore new ideas and seek to understand beyond what is taught in class? Actively participate in class and help others with difficult topics? Can the applicant be characterized as a lifelong learner?
ESSAY REQUIREMENT: Your essay should demonstrate your ability to write clearly and concisely on a selected topic and help you distinguish yourself in your own voice. What do you want the readers of your application to know about you? You may choose an option below that best helps you answer that question and write an essay of no more than 650 words, using the prompt to inspire and structure your response. Remember: 650 words is your limit, not your goal. Use the full range if you need it, but don’t feel obligated to do so.
Essay prompts for 2025–2026:
- Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
- The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
- Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
- Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?
- Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
- Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
- Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you’ve already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.

Jorge “The Mortgage Guy” DosSantos has faced many adversities throughout his educational and professional journey, yet his resilience and determination have propelled him to remarkable success. Through hard work and perseverance, Jorge built the business of his dreams while remaining deeply committed to supporting the Brockton community through service and philanthropy. He is proud to award this scholarship to an NHCSB student who has faced challenges but has never stopped dreaming big.
